Week 2 Highlights
- Went to the gym 5 days

- Transitioned to mostly vegetable juices. Only fruit I add in my juice is one apple.

Week 1 update

Day 1 and 2
These were the toughest days. I had mostly juice but by evening time I had to eat some boiled beans and greek yogurt before I went to sleep.

The second day I had a really bad headache. I have read that this is normal and many people get them. I never had them the first time I did the juice fast. It was gone by the next day morning.

By Day 3 the headache was completely gone and I was in the gym most days of the week. Played a sport on Day 5 and feeling really good.

Current Position.... 253

So it begins.....

First lets talk about me. The current me.

I am 33 years old and currently 253 pounds. This is the highest I have ever weighed. My goal is to be under 200 pounds and sustain it for a long period of time. This is an important goal because in the last 8 years I have lost more than 40 pounds 3 times to meet the goal of being under 200 lbs but have gained the weight back in less time than it took to lose it. Quite frankly I had given up, until today when I came out of denial and checked my weight. 253!!!!!!!!

Lets start with my motivation to lose weight.

1. Quality of Life - It is no longer about the looks. It is all about how I feel. How I imagine my life to be and realizing that some of those things are out of my physical reach.

2. Social embarrassment - This is not about the looks but about having a feeling that you are being judged. I know it effects me because I don't take my t-shirt off when I take my daughter swimming. I do it because I feel embarrassed.

3. For my family - Don't we all love family vacations, going out on a day-trip and the spring. My family loves it. There are nice dresses, shoes, make-up and a DSLR camera. And my goal is to finally go from the back of the camera to the front of the camera. I know my wife doesn't care but people who are overweight to a point that they are not self-confident, know exactly what I am talking about. Losing weight and looking good in that family picture is the best gift you can give.

So what is my diet plan?

As I said earlier I have lost lot of weight before and I know what has worked in the past. I know its all about making small sustainable changes but such diet plans have not worked for me before.

I am going to do a Juice Diet, which helped me lose 43 lbs last time in 3 months. Actually it was 30 days of juice diet where I lost 30 lbs and then 15 lbs in the next 2 months as I continued to juice 2-3 days a week.

This time I am going to do a juice diet until I reach my goal of 199 lbs. I expect it to be a 45 day juice fast.

My Juicer

I know the first 3-4 days are the most difficult and I hope I can get over that hump.

Cheat foods
- Greek Yogurt
- Packaged Juices
- Indian Tea
- Chewing gum (This was very helpful last time I did a juice diet)
- Raw fruits
- Boiled Beans or boiled spinach with Yogurt.

What do I do when I am at a social event or out with friends?

Well when i did the diet last time I did avoid events that I could. If I was meeting my friends I would tell them I am on a juice diet and drink a diet drink (while they all had their meal). It goes without saying that I said no to most of the lunch invitation at work but if I was forced to join I simply said I was fasting for religious reason (It is very common in my religion to be on a fast). This avoided the entire lunch conversation being about my diet.

So looks like I am ready. I will post pictures of my journey. I am hoping this blog will serve as a motivation for me to keep up with the diet. And if I am successful it will help others who are like me struggling with their weight.
